Uncommon Ground Submission Guidelines

All West Valley students, faculty, and staff are welcome to submit entries for Uncommon Ground. Everyone may submit as many entries as they wish but we will only publish three entries per person. 

All entries must be school appropriate and adhere to the rules and policies of West Valley Junior High and the West Valley School District #208. 

Each drawing, photograph, poem, or story must be submitted online using the submission form. Each file must be uploaded as a separate entry. Forms with more than one file attached will not be accepted. Please talk to Mr. Liebrecht in Room 112 if you need help scanning your work. 

You are encouraged to submit original entries and classroom assignments as long as they stick to these guidelines. 

As for the rest, please keep things as simple as possible. Keep the poetry under 25 lines and limit the short stories to 1,500 words. We will give you a little breathing space but take care not go too far over the word limit. If you wish to submit illustrations for your writing, please do. We will publish what we can. 

Editing is a must. Please have a parent or a teacher (preferably both) go over your entry before you submit. Everything will be published next to your name so make sure you submit your best work.
